Inquiry costs

Funding for the Eljamel Inquiry is provided by the Scottish Government, but the Inquiry is completely independent of Scottish Government. 

Lord Weir, Chair of the Eljamel Inquiry, has a legal duty to act with fairness and with regard also to the need to avoid any unnecessary cost (whether to public funds or to witnesses or others).

The published quarterly figures reflect the period in which invoices were paid or costs were allocated to the Inquiry; this will not necessarily be the period within which the expenditure was incurred by the Inquiry.
