The Inquiry’s hearings are due to take place at Waverley Gate in Edinburgh. In an update on 3rd July 2026, Lord Weir said he was satisfied that the Inquiry could prepare for its Section 1 hearings on the basis that work was underway to resolve a building safety issue affecting the Waverley Gate hearings venue.
Scottish Government, as tenants of the premises, continue to work to resolve the issue and are providing regular updates to the Inquiry. Progress against their project plan, on which the Inquiry must rely, is on track and the Inquiry is satisfied it can continue to plan for hearings in September. The Inquiry will keep core participants and prospective attendees up to date.
